- Summary:
-
The integration of educational staff programs with clinical/treatment staff programs and the adjustment of 57 seriously emotionally disturbed children to a centralized school facility were examined. Questionnaires were developed for the teachers/treatment staff and for the students. Among results of the staff responses were that 83% of the teaching staff and 55% of the treatment staff favored having summer school at a centralized school campus; that 100% of all staff felt they had observed a positive increase in the attitude of students allowed to return to a centralized setting; and that there was no significant difference between the perceptions of teaching and treatment staff regarding the use and effectiveness of timeout procedures. Student survey responses revealed such findings as that there was a positive correlation between attendance at school on a centralized school campus and the lowering of anxiety level over time. (Among three appendixes are a sample student questionnaire and summary tables of statistical results.) (CL)
