This handbook is intended for use as a guide for computer-based systems of career information engaged in self-study and for consultant-evaluators conducting onsite evaluations. It also provides accreditation information for governmental or private organizations which may support these systems and for the public. Section 1 describes the purposes of the Association of Computer-Based Systems of Career Information (ACSCI) and the membership categories in the association, and lists member systems for 1979. Section 2 contains the basic materials related to self-study and evaluation by the ACSCI, including a brief description of the steps in the ACSCI membership and accrediting process for associate members, candidates for accreditation, and full members (reaffirmation). Appendixes, amounting to over one-half of the handbook, include an associate member application form, standards and self-evaluation guides for system assessment (organization, information development, marketing and user services, delivery services, systems, evaluation, and system finance), and format for the system status report.
