The project was designed to develop, implement, and evaluate an effective management system to modify and reduce inappropriate behaviors exhibited by preschool handicapped children. The writer (1) provided in-service training to school personnel to increase their expertise and skills in changing behavior, (2) encouraged parent education and involvement in the behavior management process, and (3) initiated a program to decrease the occurrence of inappropriate behaviors demonstrated by preschool handicapped children in the school-home setting. Six teachers, 18 children, and 18 parents participated in the project. As a result of their participation, there was a significant decrease of inappropriate behaviors in the school-home setting. Additionally, the participating teachers indicated an increase in their ability to manage problem behavior. Parents increased their management skills and decreased their level of frustration. Analysis of the data collected at the completion of the project indicated that achievement of the goals and objectives exceeded the projected percentages. (A two-page list of references, a profile for behavior management, observation charts, target behavior plans and logs, behavior management questionnaires for teachers and for parents, behavior management inservice evaluation forms, and a handbook for the individual behavior management program are appended.)
