This document is the second volume of a six-volume report on sexuality education. This volume provides suggestions for developing and implementing effective educational and clinic-based approaches to sexuality education. It discusses the reasons for and nature of responsible sexuality education and describes approaches to building a community-based program, selecting teachers and finding training, assessing needs of the target population, and designing and implementing programs for them. It also provides suggestions for evaluating programs. Chapter 1 provides an introduction and eight fact sheets that highlight major findings of research and demonstrate the need for sexuality education programs for adolescents. Chapter 2 discusses building a program and chapter 3 describes establishing guidelines for the program. Designing the course, selecting and training leaders, and implementing programs are covered in chapters 4, 5, and 6 respectively. Chapter 7 concerns linking young people with medical services and chapter 8 discusses evaluating the course. Lists of curriculum resources and resources for every stage of program development, and a reference list for fact sheets are appended. (NB)
