This counselor assessment instrument begins by listing 11 competencies for Mississippi school counselors. Indicators for each competency are enumerated in the next section. This is followed by an explanation of the Mississippi Counselor Rating Instrument with instructions for scoring and steps in the evaluation process for assessing Mississippi counselors. Indicators and examples of counselor competencies are included to assist the school administration in evaluating the school guidance counselor. The American Association for Counseling and Development's statement on ethical standards is included, as is a guidance counselor job description. Counselor evaluation training material is appended.
