Organized around 15 tasks involved in the community-based programming (CBP) process, this book provides practical, field-tested guidance on successfully implementing CBP in community colleges. Boone), reviewing the role of community colleges in CBP and necessary skills; (2) "The Community College's Mission and Milieu: Institutionalizing Community-Based Programming" (George B. Vaughan), focusing on the first three of the processual tasks in CBP; (3) "Environmental Scanning" (Brian Nichol), addressing tasks 4 through 6; (4) "Identifying Target Publics and Stakeholders: Building a Coalition" (John M. Pettitt and Rosemary Gillett-Karam), focusing on the intended outcomes of processual tasks 7 through 10; (5) "Developing and Implementing the Plan of Action" (Edgar J. Boone, Wynetta Y. Lee, Jacquelyn W. McClelland, and Robert A. Rubin), addressing tasks 11 and 12 and presenting two sample action plans; (6) "Evaluation and Accountability" (Wynetta Y.
