This Union was formed in Sydney by striking Indian seamen in October 1945. It wa preceded by the Indian Seamen's Union of Australasia. C.H. Campbell was elected treasurer and was the only European official. The Union endeavoured to look after the interests of Indian seamen in ships calling at Australian ports.
