This document comprises four issues of a quarterly newsletter about the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and efforts to enroll eligible children in the program. Each issue provides information on related national news events, future events and publications of the Children's Defense Fund, and outreach initiatives in various states. Some issues include information on online resources related to the topic discussed. The winter 2001 issue focuses on places of worship as potential outreach partners and describes program initiatives in New York, Illinois, Texas, and Pennsylvania. The spring 2001 issue focuses on innovation in outreach programs, involving college and high school students in outreach efforts, dispelling myths in the immigrant community, bringing kinship care families into the health care circle, and culturally sensitive outreach. The summer 2001 issue includes articles on helping families fully access health care services, identifying uninsured children in the frontier states, adolescents in need of health care services, and dental programs. The fall 2001 issue discusses efforts at the state and federal level to simplify the enrollment process for CHIP. (KB)
