This report is third in a series of reports that present the California Community Colleges district- and college-level Management Information System (MIS) baseline information for two fiscal year periods, 1998-99 and 1999-2000, specific to the systemwide Partnership for Excellence performance goals. The Partnership for Excellence is a mutual commitment by the State of California and the California Community Colleges to expand significantly the contribution of the community colleges to the social and economic success of California. The primary purpose of this report is to convey data contained in the MIS on district and college performance related to the five Partnership goals, which are as follows: (1) to increase the annual number of students who transfer from community colleges to baccalaureate institutions from 55,149 (1998-1999) to 78,582 by 2006-06; (2) to increase from 84,179 (1997-98) to 116,054 (by 2005-06) the number of degrees and certificates awarded; (3) to increase from 68% to 71% the overall rate of successful course completion; (4) to achieve increases from 1997-98 through 2005-06 in course completion in apprenticeship courses, advanced-level vocational courses, and introductory vocational courses; and (5) to achieve, by 2005-06, an increase from 108,566 (1995-96) to 150,754 in the number of students completing coursework at least one level above their prior basic skills enrollment. Each goal is detailed in the report. Appendices include the Partnership for Excellence goal statement, chaptered legislation on Partnership for Excellence (Education Code Section 84754), statewide percent change/improvement needed to achieve Partnership for Excellence goals by year 2005-06, and Partnership for Excellence report specifications.
