MS 6316 comprises letters to D'Hage written from Europe by Alma Moodie, a student of his who went to Brussels Conservatoire. The letter of 29 December 1922 is incomplete. The collection also includes a more complete set of the same four letters (2 folders).
- Biography/History:

Musician. Ludwig D'Hage was a Bohemian violinist who trained in Vienna and came to Australia in 1880 for the Melbourne Exhibition. He settled in Rockhampton, Queensland, as a musician and teacher under the name of Louis D. Hage, and formed the Orpheus Music Club. Two of D'Hage's students went on to study at overseas conservatoria. Further biographical information at http://trove.nla.gov.au/people/1462582
Violinist and violin teacher. As a child Alma Moodie was taught by Ludwig D'Hage before going to Europe to continue her training and career as a musician. The composer Hans Pfitzner wrote a concerto for her. Moodie settled in Germany, where she married, and died tragically during the Second World War.
