M218: Station estimates and accounts 1823-80, statistics 1872-80, medical certificates 1847-74, correspondence 1821-35 about the Australian mission and the Committee of Native Institution; documents concerning land matters 1845-76; miscellaneous papers 1820-55 and pamphlets 1856-76; letters to Home secretaries 1821-68. M218-236: Papers of missionaries, agents and lay workers at the various stations, arranged alphabetically by the writer's surname. M237: New Zealand letters 1822-60, being approximately 700 pages of typescript, from H. Williams and others, many of the letters on land dealings.

The Church Missionary Society for Africa and the East was founded in London in 1799. The New Zealand mission began in 1814 and the Australian mission in 1825. The New Zealand mission was known as the Australasian mission until 1841.
