Politician. George Richard Dibbs was born in Sydney in 1834. Dibbs entered the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1874 as the member for West Sydney but later served as the member for St Leonards, Murrumbidgee and Tamworth. He became New South Wales premier three times prior to federation in 1885, 1889 and 1891-1894. Dibbs represented New South Wales at the 1891 Federal Convention and undertook a financial mission to England in 1892, representing New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and New Zealand.
