Rose talks about growing up in Adelaide; his family; his marriages and his children; his academic career; the impact of the Digital Revolution; the people who influenced him; the changes in computing from 1950 to 2000; building an analogue computer in the 1950’s; his career in Australia and overseas; the Analogue Differential Analyser (ADA); the Australian second generation general purpose computer, SNOCOM for the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme; CSIRAC (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Automatic Computer); SILLIAC; the CIRRUS Project; designing and building INTERGRAPHIC at the University of New South Wales; Department of Computer Science, University of Queensland; demand for Computer Science graduates by industry; his contribution to programming and programming languages; setting up Software Verification Research Centre (SVRC) in 1989. Rose discusses various people involved or interested in computing; the history of computing; his personal life and how he wishes to be remembered for his contribution to early advances in computing in conjunction with Murray Allen and others.
