- Summary:
-
Jeanie Jobson, sister of pioneering headmistress Nancy Jobson, was also a teacher. In 1917-18 she published a series of cheering letters to Australian troops on active service. The exact number of such letters is unknown and very many will simply have been lost given the circumstances of their audience. This letter is a Christmas and New Year greeting, and is addressed to Australian troops in Mesopotamia. It evokes the scenery of Australia through which she is travelling and expresses at length the admiration and gratitude of "Australian womanhood"--Catalogue from Australian Book Auctions, May 2014.
