Annotation. A tribute by those of Golden Age to the Lions Club of Bribie Island who soon after their inaugural meeting in 1974 embarked on the bold plan to obtain land, build a Senior Citizens Hall, a Meals on Wheels kitchen, Day Respite Centres to help the districts aged and their carers. Collectively we experienced the Lions philosophy of Living In Our Neighbours Service. Today our town has many modern aged care facilities. The 2011 census showed Bribie has the oldest population in Australia with a median age of 57 years.
