- National Library of Australia's SR 405 copy is a first edition, first impression. It is inscribed 'Henderson' in pencil on the fly leaf. An annotation in pencil on page 29 identifies "a quondam shepherd and a city waitress united in holy matrimony, and entertaining largely" as "Mr & Mrs Chas. Rasp" (Charles Rasp, 1846-1907, the wealthy prospector who discovered Broken Hill while mustering sheep, married Agnes Marie Louise Kleversahl, 1857-1936, an Adelaide waitress; they entertained lavishly in Willyama, their home in Medindie). A second annotation on page 31 relates to "The lesser animals" of Adelaide, which "comprise chiefly mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies, rats, and Lady Kitty." The annotation identifies "Lady Kitty" as "Edith Aird - lived at Woodville." Edith Blanche Aird (1869-1950) may have only been one of a number of Adelaide journalists writing social notes under this pen name for the "Critic," the "Adelaide Observer," the "Register" and the "Chronicle" from the 1880s; Kathleen McKain (nee Mendell) wife of Alfred McKain, editor of the "Critic," was another early "Lady Kitty." The Critic published several items about Mrs Fisher shortly before Arcadian Adelaide was published.
