Fourteen letters from Jack to Cressida Lindsay, ten typewritten and four handwritten. The letters are undated but two have had dates annotated on them at a later time, one marked 1965 and the other 1972. The letters are of a personal nature, but also make passing comments on Jack's work and Cressida's writing endeavours. Some of Jack's works mentioned include The way the ball bounces (1962), Fanfrolico and after (1962), Cezanne, his life and art (1969) and Origins of alchemy (1970). One letter includes a poem that that Jack proposed to use to dedicate a book (A local habitation: a novel of the British way, 1957) to Cressida.

Author of over 100 books, including verse, drama, novels, biographies, translations, politics and philosophy. Jack Lindsay, the eldest son of Norman Lindsay, was born and raised in Australia. He migrated to England in 1926 where he co-founded the Fanfrolico Press with Jack Kirtley and P.R. Stephenson.
