Mr Perkins has been Commissioner and Deputy Chair of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Commission since 1994. During his career he was Board Member of SBS Television and Radio, President of the Arrente Council of Central Australia, Head of the Dept. of Aboriginal Affairs, 1984-1988, and Chairman of the Aboriginal Development Commission, 1981-1984.
