This sign near Cogoleto outside Genoa, Italy in 1951, greeted the Australian Delegation of about 100 people going to Berlin for the Festival of Youth and Students for Peace. It refers to Bert Williams, an Australian who since 1945 was an official of the World Federation of Democratic Youth located in Prague. Along with Lady Anna Wittner-Cowen, Bert Williams was instrumental in the formation of the International Union of Students (IUS) and the World Federation of Democratic Youth.--Information supplied by photographer.

Including photographs of newspaper articles from the University of Melbourne's student newspaper, Farrago; the paper, Festivals Des Friedens; and a photographed article from Festivals Des Friedens which all relate to the 3rd World Festival of Youth and Students for Peace, held in Berlin, 1951.
