Campbell, former President of the New South Wales Branch of the Australian Labor Party and former President of the Electrical Trades Union of Australia, speaks about his childhood in northern New South Wales; his father; moving to Sydney in 1923; working as an electrician on the railways; his early activities in the Electrical Trades Union; his interest in Douglas Social Credit; technological changes in the electrical trade; joining the ALP; his time on the State Executive of the ETU; N.S.W. Labor Council; The Movement; the expulsion of Jack Kane; time on Central Executive of N.S.W. Branch of ALP; H.V. Evatt; Jack Ferguson; his achievements as President of N.S.W. Branch of ALP and as Chairman of the Electricity Authority of N.S.W.; asbestos; his opinions on Labor governments and the arbitration system; his other public appointments; and the 1949 coal strike.
