- Summary:
-
It is estimated that about 320,000 West Australians are carers. They provide unpaid personal care, support and assistance to a person(s) who needs help with daily life due to disability, impairment, mental illness, chronic condition or terminal illness, an alcohol or drug issue, or being frail aged. It is intended that this strategy will guide government departments and agencies, service providers and the community towards greater support for and recognition of carers and their needs. Like most strategies, it focuses on high level objectives and suggests initiatives that can be undertaken by all stakeholders to ensure good outcomes for carers and people they care for.
