Kalamboukas, a psychologist, speaks of her work as Head, Prahran Student Services, Swinburne University, born in Siatista, Macedonia, father's occupations as a fur tradesman, how she emigrated to Australia in 1983, her impressions of her first trip back to Greece in particular the social and cultural changes there, describes her home village and memories of her school years, discusses the position of women in Greek society with teachers very strict at school and the religious instruction received there, the type of entertainment available in her village, why she finished high school in Melbourne, dancing groups of Siatista, the importance of tradition in Greek society, traditional cooking such as pies and dolmades, methods of used to refine fur in the fur trade, the architecture of her town, her plans to write a book about her grandmother's house and her role in the family, her university studies at La Trobe, Monash, her first job was a machinist in her husband's factory, how she worked part-time jobs while at university full-time, example of domestic violence that she deals with in her work and notes there are many Greek women abused by their husbands and the ways she can help these women, other Greek Australian psychologist in Melbourne, her family in Australia, how she married in Greece and the Greek traditions passed on to her two children, women's culture amongs Greek Australians, her concept of nikokira and difference in Greek tradition here and in Greece, traditions related to birth and childrearing, discusses the supernatural and its importance to Greek women.
