The records, which mostly date from 1881-1930, include private letters of members of the Gibbs family, letterbooks of the Australian manager, reports, agreements, annual accounts and chartering ledgers.
- Biography/History:

The London merchant house of Antony Gibbs and Sons took over the Australian steamship and insurance agents, Bright Brothers in 1881. The firm established branches in all the Australian States and New Zealand, and developed extensive shipping, pastoral, importing, mining and timber interests.
