Correspondence documenting his life and official activities in both States, as well as such subjects as the 1917 conscription referendum, Federal State relations, the possible abolition of State Governors, and the visit of the Prince of Wales to Australia in 1920. Amongst the correspondents are Sir Ronald Munro-Ferguson, Sir Arthur Stanley, Sir Walter Davidson, Sir Henry Galway, Sir Elliot Lewis and Sir James Mitchell. There are also photographs and a diary of official engagements, 1917-22.

Sir Francis Alexander Newdigate Newdegate was Governor of Tasmania in 1917-1920, and Governor of Western Australia in 1920-1924.
