- Summary:
-
An artist's book, covering Pinchuk's 'Fallout' body of work, made in the Fukushima Nuclear Exclusion Zone. Inspired by the fish nets she saw drying on the ground when she first arrived in the Zone, the topography of the dead earth is traced as if it was falling out through the holes. Printed on four different paper stocks, the book features a fold-out pinhole laser cut 1:1 scale replica of a section of an original artwork, measuring 57 x 24 cm over three panels, alongside full colour plates of each paper-based work and two other foldouts accomodating triptych works. A section of detailed photographs of nets are printed as on semi-transparent stock. Other plates show the artist's reference and process photographs of netting taken in the Zone. The book concludes with an interview conducted by Ian Strange, examining the proces of working within Fukushima, and the creation of the data mapping works. -Based on the artist's website, http://m-i-s-o.com/la-chambre-paris-fukushima/, viewed 21 July 2017.
