B. A. (Bernard Andrew, known as Ben) Mulvogue was the secretary of the Builders' Laborers' Union until 1921, when he retired due to ill health. He was ver active in the anti-conscription campaign and was also an advocate of the One Big Union. He was born somewhere in Australia in about 1871, and died at Mentone on 31 October 1936, aged 65.
Full conscription for overseas service was attempted during WWI through two plebiscites, 1916 and 1917, neither of which was carried.
