1. Memoirs written in 1842 covering the years 1817-1837. Describes his life in the Navy serving on the West African survey under Sir Edward Belcher on the Aetna; his return to England and four years on the Mediterranean station serving on the Britannia, Canopus, Vernon and Orestes. 2. Journal, 1841- Aug. 20-1842 June 22 Melbourne. They discuss mainly family matters and give only brief impressions of life in the colony.

Born Kingsbridge. Joined Navy 1830. Emigrated to N.S.W. on Favorite, arriving July 1840. Sailed to New Zealand, Aug.-Sept. 1841 where he worked as a government clerk in Auckland.
