The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence and newspaper cuttings. Much of the correspondence consists of letters to Douglas' wife and mother written whilst he was in England, and correspondence with journalists and newspaper editors in England and Australia, including letters from R. H. Henderson, A. H. Stuart, D. D. Mathieson, Gordon B. Rolph, Arthur Wynne, the Australian Journalists' Association, F. W. Tonkin, Vincent Fairfax and Eric Baume. The cuttings contain many of Douglas' own writings, including Slings and arrows and Irvine Douglas sees..., and news items on Joseph Lyons and Coronations. The remainder includes papers relating to such clubs as the N.S.W. Rod Fishers' Society, Wine and Food Society of N.S.W., Central Acclimatisation Society, and manuscript notes on art

Journalist. Worked with The Age (1924-1927), The Sun (1927-1931), and The Sydney Morning Herald (1931-1934; 1938-1939). Between 1940 and 1944 he was London Manager of the Australian Associated Press. Also worked as Government Publicity Officer, and was Joseph Lyons' Private Secretary during the 1930's
