- Topographic map series of England and Wales showing roads, railways, mineral lines and tramways, boundaries, buildings, sites of battle, windmills, lighthouses, lightships, and aerodromes. Relief shown by hypsometric tints and spot heights. Depths shown by soundings.
- Includes diagram showing adjoining sheets, legend, and text ; index to Ordnance Survey of England & Wales at back cover.
- Each sheet is named and numbered individually. Issued in 12 non-overlapping sheets, numbered 1 to 12, each of 108 by 72 miles, covering sixteen 1:63,360 Popular Edition sheets. Mostly produced from the third national revision of 1912-1923 and compiled from drawings at 1:126,720.
- Issued in coloured and outline editions. A district map, titled South Central, issued in editions of 1924 and 1929, and used for Staff College training. Also issued as aeronautical maps: Royal Air Force Special Edition of 1925, Civil Air Edition of 1928-1929, and Royal Air Force Edition of 1928-1929.
