Anthony Reiff, Junior, was the Musical Director of Lyster's Opera Company. He wrote a letter to The Argus, 23 January 1863, page 5, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article6482911, in response to a criticism (in another as yet unidentified Melbourne newspaper) which faulted the music for "great and striking plagiarisms from Rossini's 'Stabat Mater.'"
