Towla (or táwla) is the Arabic word for backgammon. This artist's book contains instructions to backgammon that have been phonetically translated using the Arabic and Latin alphabet. The Arabic letters spell the instructions in English and the Latin letters spell the instructions in Arabic. The artist co-wrote the translations with her late father Antonios El Hitti and her close friend Katarina Achkar. The Latin and Arabic sections are back-to-back, with the colophon in the middle. The text and images are screen printed on Somerset 115gsm Bookwove paper. The artist also bound the book using the reverse side of Chamois Matt Buckram cloth. Text and images on the book cover and clamshell box are also screen printed. Towla was printed at the Megalo Print Studio in Canberra.
