1. Letters of F.A. Marriott to his mother Selina Marriott, 1849-53, mainly written in New Norfork and Richmond, Van Diemen's Land. Subjects discussed include travels in the colony, Bishop F.R. Nixon, Rev. H.P. Fry, inquiry into conduct of Rev. R. Wilson and other church matters, reports of conditions on Victorian goldfields etc. 2. Letters of Anne Marriott, wife of F.A. Marriott to Selina Marriott, 1849-50 written in New Norfolk and Richmond. 3. Papers, 1841-52 including letters from Charles Marriott to his cousin F.A. Marriott; extracts from correspondence between Marriott and J.P. Gell, 1843 re Marriott's work in the Diocese; F.A. Marriott to Selina Marriott, 1845 re voyage to Van Diemen's Land; correspondence to Lord Stanley, 1845 re legal position of colonial chaplains and authority of Bishop; letters from F.R. Nixon, Hobart, to Marriott, 1849 re conduct of Rev. R. Wilson, powers of Bishop, etc.; and letter from Marriott to R. Gunn, 1852 re Sir William Denison.
- Biography/History:

F.A. Marriott (1811-1890). Ordained priest 1835. Selected by Bishop F.R. Nixon as his chaplain, emigrated to Van Diemen's Land in 1843, and was immediately appointed archdeacon. Superintendent of convict chaplains. Appointed chaplain to New Norfolk 1847. Returned to England 1853.
