The bulk of the collection deals with Tallis' involvement with the management of the company J.C. Williamson. Many documents relate to share negotiations and management structure. There are also photographs and a small group of Tallis family letters. The series comprise: 1-2. Correspondence. 3. Financial notes and miscellaneous. 4. Diary-scrapbooks. 5. Printed. 6. Photographs. 7. Correspondence and business records. 9. Memoirs. 10. Large photographs (12 boxes, 1 fol. box).

Theatrical entrepreneur. George Tallis joined J.C. Williamson in 1886 and became chairman of directors after the death of its founder in 1913, a position he retained until 1931, when he retired.
