Japanese has lots of words that represent sounds, or are what is properly termed onomatopoeia, words that mimic the sound they describe. Kyoko Imazu is very fond of these words, which she says are like adding sound effects in conversation. This is her first book of what may be a series dedicated to sound. 'ZOROZORO' is used to describe a huge crowd, often of small things like bugs, moving together in succession, and additional books may be devoted to other words like DOKIDOKI (the sound of a heartbeat) or MOGUMOGU, PAKUPAKU (the sound of eating). 'ZOROZORO' is printed from carved rubber blocks, and debuted at the Melbourne Art Book Fair in March 2018 in both hardback and soctcover versions. -Based on Instagram posts from https://www.instagram.com/kyokoimazu/, viewed April 2018.
