"In 1854, Paris-born Enlgish baronet Sir Roger Tichborne travelled on the US bound ship 'Bella', which was lost at sea. Although his body was never found, Sir Roger was declared dead in 1855. His mother Lady Henriette Tichborne held onto the belief that her son possibly survived the shipwreck and was rescued by a vessel going to Australia. Lady Tichborne sought information about her missing son through a series of classifieds which led to a butcher in Wagga Wagga initially known as Tom Castro claiming to be Sir Roger Tichborne. Lady Tichborne accepted the claimant as her son and heir providing him with a large inheritance. However the claimant was faced with sceptiscism by others this led into the investigation of the claimant's identity and the allegation that he was not Sir Roger Tichborne but an Englishman by the name of Arthur Orton."--Information from acquisitions documentation.
