Editorial: This is the second volume of Sunnybank WAMCI Arts Collection, presenting painting works of Melody Chen. Melody is a Taiwanese born entrepreneur but also an Australia nurtured artist. She eventually takes her artist dream seriously after working as a volunteer art promoter for years in Brisbane, especially in Sunnybank and surrounding suburbs. Publishing her painting album is considered an action of preserving a piece of records documenting local art and multicultural development. After years of serving and supporting artists, Melody's childhood dream was awakened. She has a strong spirit to achieve what she believes is worthwhile, regardless any obstacles. Completing a MBA degree is an example; she graduated from University of South Australia in 2008 with her not-so-confident English skills. She started learning to paint in 2012. From sketch, watercolour painting, traditional ink, to oil painting, she works hard and would not allow any excuses to delay her progress. She does not wait for opportunities, she creates them. Not before long, she started presenting her works in local and international exhibitions. Melody founded World Arts & Multi-Culture Inc. (WAMCI) and has been working in Brisbane and beyond to promote arts, multiculturalism and citizenship since 2003. As a non-profit organisation run by volunteers, WAMCI is now the organiser of the annual Brisbane International Arts Festival to celebrate Harmony Week. Besides the significant workload of the Festival, WAMCI has another master plan, a series of publications roofed under the name of Sunnybank WAMCI Arts Collection. This series will be published alongside exhibitions organised by WAMCI to introduce exceptional artists from local, national and international art community with their best works. Although working under very limited resources, WAMCI will keep advancing with artists and communities to fulfil our mission in promoting arts and multiculturalism.
