- Summary:
-
"Environment Tasmania is the state's conservation council, uniting local environment groups and thousands of individuals around the world to protect Tassie's unique environment. The Sustainable Salmon Chefs' Charter is part of our efforts to clean up salmon farming and build a truly sustainable aquaculture industry in Tasmania. The environmental challenges of fish farms are hitting headlines across the world and in Tasmania we're seeing marine dead zones under pens, impacts leaching into our World Heritage Area, fish faeces build-ups, native wildlife deaths and impacts on recreational fishing grounds. We Tasmanians take pride in our state's clean, green image, and it's our point of difference in the marketplace. Aquaculture could be a pillar of Brand Tasmania, but only if we tackle sustainability, pollution and regulation issues head-on."--About.
