- Summary:
-
Family history of Owen Smith and his descendants. Richard and Clarence Smith developed the stump jump plow in 1876. Its design allowed it to jump over stumps and other obstructions without breaking the ploughshare. An ideal implement for Australian agriculture as it did freed farmers from the deep plowing used in Europe and unsuitable for Australian conditions.
