A travel poster advertising transport to Australia on the Commonwealth Government Line of Steamers, which operated cargo shipping services between Australia, Europe and America; they also operated five passenger ships between Australia and London. The poster is printed in black and red, with the initial letters C, G, and L and the word Australia in red. Australia is printed in large letters superimposed on a large outline map of the continent and Tasmania. The ports serviced by the company are indicated on the map.

The Commonwealth Government Line of Steamers was established in 1916 under Prime Minister Billy Hughes. It was renamed the Australian Commonwealth Line in 1923, and was wound up completely and its ships sold at a loss by Prime Minister Stanley Bruce in 1928.
