The ten full page chromolithograph plates depict turkeys, the chickie family (rooster, hen and three chicks), kingfishers, the jay, ducks, cockatoo and mackaw (a pink or Major Mitchell's cockatoo and a scarlet macaw), the peacock, pheasants, guinea fowls, and Grey Polly (an African grey parrot with red underwing; also reproduced on the glazed upper board).
