- Summary:
-
"The first work on the Constitution of Papua New Guinea was "The annotated Constitution of Papua New Guinea" authored by Brian Brunton and Duncan Colquhoun Kerr and published in 1984, more than 30 years ago. Since then the Supreme Court has dealt with hundreds of cases requiring interpretation of the provisions of the Constitution. The National Court also has applied section 57 (human rights) and other provisions for which it has jurisdiction on many occasions. This new book is an attempt to gather all those materials together, appropriately categorised. Judicial development of constitutional law in Papua New Guinea since the Constitution was enacted is the focus of this new book. A global overview of judicial thinking that underpins the development of case law is offered in the introduction".
