The Council commissioned Associate Professor Natalie Jackson and Dr Peter Wilde to undertake a detailed analysis of past migration trends affecting Tasmania and the associated implications for local communities. The consultancy examined confidentialised data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics' 2006 Census of Population and Housing to compare the economic and social characteristics of Tasmania's moving population against those who remained in each area.
