- Summary:
-
This report presents the findings of a national survey into the prevalence, nature, and reporting of sexual harassment in the workplace in Australia and in the community more broadly. More than 10,000 Australians aged 15 to 65 years old took part, regarding their experiences of sexual harassment over their lifetimes and within the last five years, who the perpetrators are, the characteristics of workplaces where harassment occurs, the reporting and outcomes of complaints, the impacts of experiencing workplace sexual harassment, the responses of bystanders, and awareness of sources of information. The findings confirm that sexual harassment is widespread and pervasive, with few people making an official complaint, highlighting a need for workplace policy and bystander interventions.
