"Between 1960 and 1980, Playboy frequently published images of nude women in fields, forests and beaches. If photographed indoors, models were often surrounded by flowers and plants. Advertisements for cigarettes, cars, and beer often portrayed couples enjoying nature. Plantboy is a response to this trend in visual culture. ¶ Plantboy is designed to maximise reader participation. A razor, found on page 25, is included with each edition. Use it to trim the edge of each fold. The content 'between the pages' reveals a very different side of Playboy magazine. Feel no shame in 'destroying' your virgin copy of Plantboy. With destruction often comes creation, or, at the very least, newfound knowledge or experience. So take a risk. It'll be worth it! ¶ Proceed with caution! There's loose content hidden within the folds, including a piece of original Playboy ephemera from the 1960s and 1970s that is unique to your edition. I suppose you could say that each copy is pregnant with hidden material. Ephemera vary in size. Some will be easier to find than others.
