"The Mining Amendment (Compensation for Cancellation of Exploration Licence) Bill 2019 was introduced into Parliament as a direct response to the cancellation of Exploration Licence (EL) 7270 over Doyles Creek. The licence was granted in 2008 and subsequently cancelled in 2014 following findings made by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.The Bill seeks to provide a mechanism by which people financially affected by the cancellation of EL 7270 can apply to an independent arbiter to have their claims for compensation assessed and determined." --Chair's foreword (page vii).
