Air photograph interpreter. William George Sims was in the RAAF Reserve from approximately age 18 to 24. Between 1932 and 1935 he owned the Los Angeles Photographic Studio in Sydney, and in this period he entered photographic competitions. In 1937 he married Kathleen Veronica Roach, and they moved to Tamworth in 1940, where Kathleen opened a millinery shop. Around the end of that year, Sims returned to the RAAF, as an aerial photographer. He was posted to Western Australia, and later mainly the eastern states. In the Second World War he served in Borneo. From 1946 to 1952 Sims worked for the Repatriation Department, the New South Wales Government Printer, and for photographer Milton Kent. In 1953 he began working for the Forestry and Timber Bureau in Canberra, teaching air photo interpretation. In this job Sims went on several field trips. He retired in 1969, and died in 1970.
