This collection comprises of a copy of a manuscript score of Nigel Butterley's Goldengrove, Musica Viva press photographs and papers relating to the Seymour Group. Included also are programs and brochures for concerts, recitals and miscellaneous events, annotated review copies of concert programs 1959-1988, an index which includes a register arranged by composer A-Z, a Chronological Register of all events attended since 1944-1992 and an alphabetical performance summary for composers (annual) and list of abbreviations.

Fred Blanks was born Fritz Mayer on 31 May 1925 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. His family fled to London in 1937 from Nazi persecution, and in 1938 they sailed for Sydney on the 'Jervis Bay' and took the name Blanks. He gained a science degree from the University of Sydney in 1947 and worked as an industrial chemist for ICI in Sydney, Melbourne and Great Britain until he retired in 1984. He was also one of Australia's most respected music critics. In 1952 he began to write music criticism for Australian Jewish News, from 1955 for the Musical Times (UK), and from 1963-1998 for the Sydney Morning Herald. Later in life he wrote regularly for the North Shore Times. He taught music history for various adult education organisations, including the W.E.A. and the University of Sydney Continuing Education Centre. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1988 in recognition of his services to music. He died on 15 March 2011.
