- 73 pages ; 20 cm
- Summary:
-
A handmade booklet, produced from narrow column typeset galley proofs (probably intended for newspaper or magazine publication), pasted into a small handbound volume with handwritten page numbers, handwritten descriptive story column headings, and a small number of corrections. The last two pages are blank. The pen and ink illustrated cover depicts a man and his horse beside a spring (emerging from the ground next to what may be an isolated small basalt column formation). A dead tree and a tall Queensland bottle tree with a small amount of foilage at the top are shown on either side of a small pond below the spring. A small sugarloaf shaped volcanic peak appears in the distance. The short story or novella, set in Queensland, possibly by someone of Scottish descent, uses a framing device of a forwarded manuscript, and involves a vision of a 1937 future arcadia.
