Discusses use of the word "cursing" by Balanda to describe the temporary closing down of stores and other public facilities in some Arnhem Land communities; the Yolngu use of the word "cursing" means to place a restriction over something by proclamation of the name of a clan or a personal totem, it is not sorcery and not a curse; explains the meaning of bundurr and its use to institute legal proceedings.
