"The Northwest Pilbara, 2020: Geological Information Series features a new 1:100 000-scale seamless surface geology compilation. This set of digital layers is based on published maps from the 1994-2005 Pilbara Craton Mapping Project, carried out by the Geological Survey of Western Australia and Geoscience Australia under the North Pilbara National Geoscience Mapping Accord, but updated to use current GSWA lithostratigraphic map codes and to link to GSWA's Explanatory Notes System. The new compilation is accompanied by current and historic geoscientific datasets covering themes such as 1:2.5 million-scale geology, regolith geology, field observations, geochemistry, mineral resource locations, tectonic unit boundaries, mining tenements, geological interpretations, map indices at various scales, and image data. The new, seamless surface geology will be used to create a digital 1:100 000-scale interpreted bedrock geology map during thecourse of the on-going Hamersley/Pilbara Project." -- abstract.
